OVERVIEW: Riverwards Produce is a group of produce focused markets in Philadelphia. This position will primarily operate out of our commissary kitchen in Port Richmond, Philadelphia.
The Prep Foods Kitchen Staff position at Riverwards Produce takes ownership of the Prepared Foods operation. They are responsible for the preparation, packaging, and delivery of Riverwards- branded food products and value-added products. They are responsible for maintaining a clean and organized, and adequately stocked commissary kitchen space. They will communicate frequently with market staff to ensure proper inventory practices are followed.
Reports to: Commissary Manager
Daily Responsibilities:
- Prepare salads, sandwiches, dips, and other Riverwards house branded food products
- Package food products
- Cut and wrap cheese
- Maintain a clean, organized, and adequately stocked commissary kitchen space
- Take ownership of receiving deliveries when they arrive and keep a friendly rapport with delivery people
- Follow health and safety standards while working
- Complete all opening and closing procedures
Requirements
- Experience working in the kitchen for a bar, restaurant, or caterer
- Clean and organized when working in a kitchen setting
- A diligent approach to safety and sanitation. ServSafe (or analogous) certification a plus
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and spend 8+ hours standing; this includes lifting, carrying and stooping
- Clean driving record
- A positive attitude and an enthusiastic desire to provide storewide customer service
- Passion for the principles of sustainable food and farming
- Ability to roll with the punches of a rapidly growing start-up business
