Freeport Community Services (FCS) is a nonprofit organization rooted in the heart of Freeport and Pownal, dedicated to enriching lives, connecting neighbors, and helping those in need. We’re looking for a creative, outgoing, and mission-driven Communications and Engagement Manager to join our team in a flexible, part-time position.
About the Role:
The Communications and Engagement Manager is a connector and storyteller; someone who can elevate FCS’s visibility while deepening our relationships with the community. In this role, you’ll lead our communications strategy and drive meaningful engagement with volunteers, partners, donors, and neighbors. From social media and newsletters to events and public outreach, your work will strengthen how FCS shows up and stays connected.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement and evolve FCS’s communications and marketing plan
- Create engaging content for digital and print channels, including email, website, social media, and newsletters
- Collaborate with program staff, development, and events teams to support outreach and messaging
- Share stories of our impact through video, writing, and photography
- Maintain and update website and blog; ensure brand consistency
- Draft press releases and manage media relations
- Design and produce community-facing materials (flyers, signage, brochures, etc.)
- Build partnerships with local organizations, volunteers, and community members
- Develop engagement strategies to strengthen participation in programs and events
- Support fundraising appeals and donor communications with the Executive Director and Development Director
- Maintain a communications calendar, budget, and performance tracking
What We’re Looking For:
- 3–5 years of experience in communications, marketing, or community engagement
- Excellent writing, editing, and storytelling skills
- Proficiency (or willingness to learn) tools like Canva, WordPress, Mailchimp, and Meta Business Suite
- An outgoing and approachable personality with strong interpersonal skills
- Experience developing strategies to reach and engage diverse audiences
- Organized and able to manage multiple priorities independently
- Enthusiasm for FCS’s mission and a collaborative team spirit
