Construction Cost Accountant – Job Summary. The Construction Job Cost Accountant works closely with the Assistant Controller for Construction, the Accounting Team, and Upper Management to ensure accurate, timely, and focused accounting and job costing. This position will provide administrative accounting and financial reporting for our construction entities.
Job Duties
1. Create new Vendors and Sub-Contractors in Yardi, obtaining W-9, and Certificates of Insurance.
2. Review vendor statements, respond to vendor inquiries and resolve vendor issues.
3. Compare Vendor and Sub-Contractor’s invoices to signed Construction Contract or Purchase Order. Resolve any errors with our company responsible party. Notify Vendor or Sub-Contractor any dispute on their invoice.
4. Input invoices into the Accounts Payable system in Yardi on a timely basis.
5. Produce Vendor or Sub-Contractor checks (or EFT) weekly, or when required with the approval of the Assistant Controller.
6. Upload Positive Payment Report daily when checks have produced.
7. Complete credit applications from new suppliers. All credit applications have to be signed by the Controller.
8. Review Job Cost Reports, research errors, and notify the Assistant Controller of any errors or changes needed to be made.
9. Request Stop Payments and void the check in Yardi, notify Assistant Controller as to the re-issue of the check or to void the transaction completely.
10. Process operating expenses including all employee expense reports, overhead expenses, and office rent.
11. Payment of all Property Taxes on a timely basis.
12. Produce annual 1099’s for Vendors and Sub-Contractors.
13. Any additional projects or duties requested by the Assistant Controller or Upper Management of the company.
Skills, Abilities, and Experience
1. 3 to 5 years of related Experience.
2. 4 year college degree required.
3. Experience in Residential or Commercial Construction.
4. Multi-site Construction Cost Accounting experience preferred.
5. Strong working knowledge of Construction software and Microsoft software preferred.
6. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with changing demands.
