Construction Health & Safety Partner
Job description
API Large Projects | Global Manufacturing & Supply | Kalundborg, Denmark
Your impact begins here
As Construction Health & Safety Partner, you will help turn health and safety requirements into safe, effective ways of working across large and complex construction projects. You will be a key professional partner to project leadership, connecting relavant legislation, Novo and industry standards, risks and performance with what happens every day on site. Your impact will be visible in how risks are managed, contractors are engaged and safety decisions are translated into action.
What you’ll bring
You bring experience from other large scale and complex industrial construction projects, with pharma experience considered an advantage rather than a prerequisite.
You have solid construction safety management experience and the confidence to work with senior stakeholders while staying close to site execution.
We are looking for someone with:
- A relevant background in health and safety, engineering, construction management, or another relevant technical discipline.
- Solid experience with health and safety in large and complex construction projects, including contractor management, inspections, audits and incident investigations.
- Strong knowledge of Danish health and safety legislation relating to construction work.
- Practical experience with safety plans, risk assessments, permit-to-work processes, root-cause analysis and corrective and preventive actions.
- The ability to influence and challenge stakeholders constructively and create progress through professional expertise without relying on formal authority.
- Strong English communication skills. Danish is an advantage, but not a prerequisite.
Favorable, but not essential: Health and Safety Coordinator training for construction, experience as a construction-stage Health and Safety Coordinator or client H&S representative, and experience from pharma, process industries or major brownfield or greenfield programmes.
What you’ll do
- Drive consistent implementation of Construction Safety Requirements across applicable projects and translate standards into practical execution on site.
- Support safe transition from construction to commissioning
- Advise Project Directors and project leadership on significant health and safety risks, priorities and escalations.
- Strengthen governance of project-specific safety plans and follow up on risk assessments, permit-to-work processes and high-risk activities.
- Build a consistent view of safety performance, using data, leading and lagging indicators, trends, and SPS findings to support decisions and improvements.
- Conduct and support audits, inspections and site walks, following up on contractor performance and helping strengthen collaboration with construction partners.
- Ensure lessons learned are shared across projects and escalate or stop work when there is an immediate and unacceptable risk.
Who you’ll work with
You will join PL PS Infrastructure, Interfaces EHS within API Manufacturing, part of Global Manufacturing & Supply, and be based in Kalundborg, Denmark.
Working close to the construction activities, you will collaborate across the project organisation with Project Directors, project leadership, Health & Safety colleagues, construction partners and contractors. You will act as a professional partner on construction health and safety, helping connect requirements and standards with safe, practical execution on site. This role is part of the broader H&S Partner network in Novo and works closely with the API Large and Capital Project H&S Partner to ensure consistent implementation of H&S strategies and priorities.
The role gives you a broad interface across disciplines and organisations, with a particular focus on the construction phase of large and complex projects.
What you can expect here
You will have a visible role that combines strategic perspective with practical involvement on construction sites. You will have the opportunity to influence safety culture, governance and decision-making while working with both internal and external specialists.
The experience and knowledge developed in the role are also intended to remain relevant beyond the current project and contribute to future capital projects.
Salary: For this role, the Annual Base Salary ranges from 651,000 to 956,900 DKK (DK), corresponding to the level of the position.
The placement within the salary range will be assessed during the recruitment process based on the candidate’s skills, competencies, knowledge, and relevant experience.
Incentives andBenefits
The salary package may include short-term and/or long-term incentives as well as other employee benefits based on position level, location, functional area and relevant market benchmarks.

Skills mentioned

We are a global healthcare company, founded in 1923 and headquartered just outside Copenhagen, Denmark. Our purpose is to drive change to defeat serious chronic diseases, built upon our heritage in diabetes. We do so by pioneering scientific breakthroughs, expanding access to our medicines, and working to prevent and ultimately cure the diseases we treat. Our story began over 100 years ago when two small Danish companies started producing the revolutionary new drug, insulin, which had just been discovered by Canadian scientists. These companies, Nordisk Insulinlaboratorium and Novo Terapeutisk Laboratorium, were established by individuals driven by a common goal: to make life-saving insulin available to people with diabetes in Denmark and beyond. August Krogh, a Nobel laureate, and his wife Marie, a physician whose own diabetes fueled their quest, played a pivotal role in bringing insulin production to Denmark, leading to the founding of Nordisk Insulinlaboratorium in 1923. Shortly after, in 1925, the Pedersen brothers, former Nordisk employees, established Novo Terapeutisk Laboratorium, creating a dynamic of competition and innovation that would characterize the Danish pharmaceutical landscape for decades. After years of parallel growth and groundbreaking research, these two entities merged in 1989 to form Novo Nordisk A/S, a company that has since expanded rapidly. Today, we are a world leader not only in diabetes care but also in obesity care, haemophilia care, and therapies for rare endocrine disorders. Our commitment extends beyond developing innovative medicines; we strive to make them accessible to patients worldwide. We employ more than 77,000 people across 80 offices globally and market our products in approximately 170 countries. The Novo Nordisk Way, our set of guiding principles, is rooted in the vision of our founders and continues to inspire our thousands of colleagues. We are dedicated to applying our passion, skills, and commitment to defeat serious chronic diseases that affect hundreds of millions of people and represent some of the most urgent global health challenges. Our U.S. headquarters is located in Plainsboro, New Jersey, playing a vital role in the life sciences industry through sales, marketing, and clinical trial management for all Novo Nordisk U.S. products. We are also significantly investing in manufacturing capabilities, including a $4.1 billion expansion in North Carolina, to meet the growing demand for our diabetes and obesity medications.
