As we expand, we are seeking a Construction Project Accountant to support our project management team with job cost tracking, billing, and project financial reporting.
Position Overview
The Construction Project Accountant is responsible for managing the financial aspects of multiple active construction projects. This role works closely with project managers, vendors, and the accounting department to ensure accurate job cost tracking, contract compliance, and timely billing.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and maintain job cost structures in our accounting software
- Track project budgets, commitments, change orders, and costs-to-date
- Review and process subcontractor and vendor invoices for accuracy and contract compliance
- Prepare monthly billing and progress payment applications
- Reconcile project financials and monitor labor, material, and equipment cost allocations
- Support project managers with financial reporting and forecasting
- Ensure proper lien releases, insurance certificates, and compliance documentation are on file
- Assist with the month-end close process and WIP (Work-in-Progress) reporting
- Communicate with vendors, clients, and internal teams to resolve billing and payment issues
- Maintain organized documentation for audits and internal reviews
Qualifications
- 3+ years of accounting experience in a construction or project-based environment
- Strong knowledge of job costing and progress billing
- Proficient in Microsoft, Sage 100 Contractor, or similar accounting software is a plus
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Associate's or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
