Title: Consumer Credit Analyst

Department: Consumer Lending

Reports To: VP Consumer Lending

Supervises: N/A

Job Classification: Full-time, Exempt

Location: Jackson, MS


The Consumer Credit Analyst is responsible for timely risk analysis and packaging of new consumer and small business loan requests. The position will also provide portfolio review and analysis for assigned requests for the small business portfolio.


Responsibilities:

  • Leads and supports Strengthening HOPE Initiative that values an organizational culture for open communication, innovation, associate engagement and other traits that contribute to collaboration and high performance.
  • Work with consumer lending and small business lending staff to assess risk of new credit requests and develop strategies to mitigate identified risk.
  • Package and present consumer and small business loan requests.
  • Support branch staff in preparing all real estate documents including preliminary and closing documents.
  • Adhere to departmental policies and procedures. Provide recommendations to manager on suggested updates.
  • Assist loan operations with the review, maintenance, and post-closing documentation of loan files, including tracking exceptions and securing follow-up information.
  • Provide general administrative support, including meeting participation, report preparation, and special projects.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Required

  • Demonstrated strength in credit analysis, financial analysis, and communication skills (written and verbal)

Preferred

  • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field; business and/or graduate degree preferred
  • Some prior credit analysis and underwriting experience desired

Key Competencies & Skills:

  • Strong computer skills, especially with financial spreadsheets and word processing
  • Ability to read and interpret documents, write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers and employees of the organization
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, percent, and interpret data
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
  • Ability to evaluate creditworthiness from multiple structured and unstructured variables
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and ability to prioritize work to meet numerous levels of deadlines
