About the role
We’re looking for a Controller to take ownership of our internal accounting operations and play a key role in supporting strategic financial decisions as we scale. You'll be the first in-house hire owning the accounting function at Range—taking the reins from our current outsourced firm (who will continue to handle taxes)—and driving our month-end close process, financial reporting, and operational controls. This is a great opportunity for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, early-stage environment and wants to help shape the financial foundation of a growing SaaS business.
We're excited to hire this role at Range's Headquarters in McLean, VA. All of our positions follow an in-office schedule Monday through Friday, allowing you to collaborate directly with the team. If you're not currently based in one of these areas but love what you see, let’s discuss relocation options as part of your journey to joining us.
What you’ll do with us
Own the day-to-day accounting function and manage all aspects of the month-end close process
Oversee and maintain the accuracy of financial records in QuickBooks, including reconciliations, journal entries, and accruals
Partner with and manage the relationship with our external tax/accounting firm
Prepare monthly financial statements and management reporting packages for leadership and board stakeholders
Develop and document internal accounting policies and controls to support audit readiness and operational scale
Assist with financial planning and analysis efforts, including budgeting, forecasting, and modeling
Collaborate cross-functionally with business and product leaders to drive financial insights that support decision-making
What will set you apart
7+ years of experience in accounting or finance roles, preferably in a B2C SaaS or tech company
Strong knowledge of GAAP accounting standards and financial reporting
Hands-on experience with QuickBooks and Excel/Google Sheets; experience with modern finance tools a plus
Experience owning a full-cycle month-end close
Familiarity with SaaS business models, metrics, and financial planning
Ability to balance the detail-oriented nature of accounting with the agility needed in a startup environment
Bonus: Experience with FP&A and building financial models
CPA or similar certification a plus but not required
