Our client, a growing and privately held commercial real estate firm based in Fort Wayne, IN, is seeking a hands-on Controller to lead corporate financial operations and contribute directly to strategic growth.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead all corporate-level accounting, reporting, and compliance
- Oversee a small team (3–6) including accounting staff and administrative support
- Manage 16–20 sets of monthly books, including multi-building portfolios
- Ensure accuracy of financials at the corporate level (property-level accounting is well-established)
- Oversee HR functions: benefits, employee relations, and insurance programs
- Collaborate with ownership on strategic decisions and growth planning
- Assist with client financial communications and issue resolution
- Manage financials for both the real estate portfolio and a third-party maintenance company
- Coordinate with outsourced partners for payroll and IT
- Report directly to the Founder/Owner and Director of Operations
✅ Candidate Profile
- 3+ years in a Controller or senior accounting role within commercial real estate
- Strong background in corporate finance and HR
- Experience managing and mentoring small teams
- Proficiency in Yardi
- Independent, solution-oriented, and resourceful
- Energetic and adaptable, with a “roll-up-your-sleeves” attitude
- Interest in AI tools for finance/operations is a plus
