Description of Work

This CORRECTION ENTERPRISE SUPERVISOR II is assigned to the Tabor City Sewing Plant. The position is responsible for training offenders in the safe, proper, and most efficient operation of equipment and practices utilized in a sewing manufacturing operation, while ensuring quality and quantity standards in accordance with applicable laws, policies, and regulations. This employee will organize and direct work assignments of offenders and set up of equipment for processing of raw materials. The employee will prepare a variety of written reports involving subjects such as inventory levels, equipment specifications, offender incidents, incentive wage payroll and production schedules. The work environment may involve exposure to noise, dust fumes, dangerous machinery, chemical body fluids and fallen objects. This may require the use of personal protective equipment (such as ear plugs/muff, safety glasses, respirators, protective clothing, etc. and/or personal protective equipment used in sewing operation)

This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits

Necessary Special Qualifications


  • Must be at least 20 years of age and a citizen of the United States.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license. Pass Psychological testing as required by NC Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission.
  • Pass Physical Examination as required by NC Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission.
  • Pass Drug Screening as required by NC Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission.
  • Attend and successfully complete (6) weeks of Basic Correctional Officer Training (BCOT) at a Training Facility.
  • Employees shall be scheduled for BCOT during their 2nd month of employment.

If selected for this position, a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience, funding availability, and internal equity. Based upon these factors, a pay increase MAY result.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies


  • Documented experience with hands on sewing equipment & tools. Ex. Machines press snips etc.

  • Documented training in a production manufacturing environment.

  • Documented training experience with skilled & unskilled workers.

  • Documented experience with safety programs in a production environment.

  • Documented experience with inventory & stock replenishment.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and a minimum of two years of related industry/service experience;

Necessary Special Requirements

Must be eligible for certification by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission

Plant Specific Special Requirements
Agriculture - NC Pesticide License and NC Wastewater License
Cannery - Low Acid and Acidified Food Production certification must be obtained within one year of hire
Laundry - Certified Professional Laundry Manager or Certified Laundry and Linen Manager certification
Braille - Certified Braille Transcriber certificate must be obtained within 18 months of hire
