CREDIT ASSISTANT POSITION
Star Oilco is looking for a Credit Assistant to work alongside the company’s Credit Manager. This is a position with training and an opportunity to grow into a full Credit Manager position coached and mentored by current team. The full-time position will include the following responsibilities:
- Daily application of cash receipts to customer’s accounts. This includes preparing bank deposits, scanning checks and reconciling different forms of deposits against the bank statement.
- Preparing credit files for review. This involves pulling consumer and commercial credit reports, as well as reaching out to business references included on credit applications. Communicate with sales staff about missing or incomplete paperwork.
- Customer service responsibilities include receiving incoming credit department calls, and assisting customers with general account inquiries. This may include taking credit card payments, discussing payment options/arrangements and resolving invoice discrepancies.
- Identify past due customers and assist Credit Manager with correspondence to resolve past due balances. This includes communication by phone, email and letters.
- Assist with month end processes such as mailing statements and account accuracy prior to closing.
- Assist with Credit Manager duties when Credit Manager is on vacation. This may include credit approval, collection calls and reporting.
We are looking for candidates with at least 2-5 years of experience in the fields of credit, collections, and accounts receivable.
Candidates should have knowledge of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Candidates should also be familiar with consumer and commercial credit reports.
A Bachelor’s degree in Business and/or certification through NACM is a plus, but not required.
Attention to detail is expected for this position.
Knowledge of Sage 100 software and expertise using Excel and pivot tables a plus.
A comfort with problem solving with software a plus.
An interest in growing in the position and over time taking on higher level credit management job duties as needed.
