The City of Fairfield is seeking a proactive, community-oriented professional to join the Police Department as a Crime Prevention Specialist. This key position plays a vital role in enhancing public safety through the development, coordination, and implementation of crime prevention programs, Crime Free Multi-Housing initiatives, and community outreach efforts. Serving as a liaison between the Police Department and the community, this role fosters strong partnerships with residents, schools, businesses, and civic organizations to promote a safer Fairfield for all.

DEFINITION:To perform a variety of duties related to the development, implementation, and administration of programs and projects pertaining to crime prevention, crime free multi housing, and public safety programs and practices within the Police Department. Serve as a city liaison to community groups and agencies regarding issues related to crime prevention.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Includes office and field activities. Evening, weekend or extended hours of work may be involved.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Work may include prolonged sitting, as well as light to moderate lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling and stooping activities. Manual dexterity, clear speech, visual and hearing acuity are also required.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED:
Supervisory and administrative police department personnel provide general supervision. May provide technical and functional direction to lower-level personnel as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
EXPERIENCE:
- Three (3) years of increasingly responsible experience dealing with the public in a law enforcement or social service setting is required.
- Education equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade is required.
- Possession of a valid class C California driver's license is required.
