Job SummaryThe Criminal Researcher (“The Scout”) is primarily responsible for processing Public Records products related to pre-employment background screening applications. This position is accountable for working within ScoutLogic’s client guidelines as well as the Federal Credit Reporting Act’s (FCRA) regulations to provide minimal turnaround time and high quality results on background research requests.

ResponsibilitiesRetrieves and enters a variety of information from various computer and web based systems related to an applicant’s history
Searches and retrieves information from files, computer records, and other documents
Locates information and documents quickly and accurately in accordance with applicable laws and procedures
Supplies timely updates and notifications of delays
Understands the court system and terminology, and interprets results
Communicates effectively with courts to retrieve additional information as needed
Performs duties and responsibilities as assigned
High School Diploma or GED required
Bachelor’s degree preferred – specializing in Criminal Justice a plus
1 to 3 years related work experience
Familiarity with FCRA a plus
Intermediate knowledge of word processing software, including MS Word, Outlook, and Excel
Strong familiarity with the internet, including internet research experience
Excellent analytical, written and verbal communication skills
Type 60 words per minute
Independent and detail oriented
Ability to work under constant deadlines
Teamwork oriented attitude
