Exhibit Carpenter

We don’t build walls between our office and fabrication shop, not only allowing for collaboration across disciplines but also with our clients—especially those who visit our space and use it as a temporary office. We are seeking to find a qualified Carpenter to cut, fabricate and install wooden and other structures according to specifications for exhibits. This role is responsible for the execution of refurbishing existing assets and building new from a provided design and engineering drawings. Your job will entail working in diverse settings to produce steady and functional infrastructure and products. A carpenter is an individual with great hand dexterity and an eye for detail. The ideal candidate will also have good knowledge of wood properties and other carpentry materials. Working with little supervision while following all health and safety standards is essential. The goal is to contribute to the construction and maintenance of strong and long-lasting exhibits and environments.
Responsibilities:
- Perform all carpentry skills: reading blueprints, table saw, routers, miter box, and all other carpentry tools.
- Able to comprehend diagrams, blueprints and sketches as provided.
- Precisely apply laminates, veneers, cut and polish acrylics and basic construction methods of casework.
- Maintain a high standard of quality in the finished products.
- Take measurements and calculate the size and amount of material needed.
- Properly measure and cut to an exact dimension to the 1/32.
- Able to operate standard shop power tools, i.e.; saw, drill press, including all types of hand tools from routers to cordless tools.
- Inspect equipment for safe and dependable operation.
- Must be reliable and self-motivated and take clear direction from shop manager/lead.
- Communicate clearly with supervisors and clients on a daily basis.
- Notify supervisors of issues or discrepancies found along the build process before errors are made.
- Complete assigned work as requested from Supervisor in a timely professional manner.[AH1]
- Maintain all equipment in shop area and keep supplies stocked.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Basic electrical knowledge is helpful - low voltage LED and common 120v.
- Ability to lift 50 + pounds occasionally.
- Overnight travel to trade shows/events and onsite installations up to 10% of the time.[AH2]
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma
- Minimum 5+ years of proven experience in finished carpentry.
- Hands-on experience in working with carpentry materials.
- Excellent understanding of carpentry techniques and methods of installation and construction.
- Ability to read technical documents and drawings.
- Proficient in using electrical and manual equipment and measurement tools (powered saws, hammers, rulers etc.).
- Team player, and works well as a team in a custom shop environment which includes: company sales personnel, graphics/design department, HR, transportation drivers, and management.
- Knowledge of and willingness to follow safety guidelines at all times.
- Proficient understanding of basic math.
- Ability to perform calculations and work with numbers to solve problems.
- Regular and consistent attendance for the assigned work hours, required.
- Flexibility to work overtime.
