Data Platform Engineer
Job description
MANTECH seeks a motivated, career and customer-oriented Senior Data Platform Engineer to join our team in Doral, FL.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Designing, constructing, and maintaining secure, scalable data platform architectures and underlying infrastructure.
- Building, optimizing, and monitoring enterprise data pipelines, ingestion frameworks, and ETL/ELT workflows.
- Collaborating with cross-functional technical teams, data architects, and analysts to define data interoperability standards.
- Conducting system performance tuning, capacity planning, and troubleshooting across distributed data platforms.
- Maintaining system baselines, automated configuration management controls, and platform engineering documentation.
- Evaluating emerging data platform technologies and implementing process improvements to maximize system reliability and scalability.
MinimumQualifications
- Bachelorās degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field AND five (5) or more years of experience in data platform or software engineering.
- OR a masterās degree and 3+ or more years of relevant experience
- OR a PhD and 1+ or more years of relevant experience
- OR an associateās degree and 7+ or more years of relevant experience
- OR a high school diploma and 9+ or more years of relevant experience
- Proven experience building and managing large-scale data platforms, cloud architectures, or distributed data systems. Strong background in database engineering, data pipeline automation, and proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Scala, or SQL.
- Hands-on experience with containerization, orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes), and CI/CD automation pipelines. Experience creating, maintaining, and communicating complex technical documentation and platform architectures.
PreferredQualifications
- Relevant industry certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Data Engineer, Azure Data Engineer Associate).
- Prior experience supporting U.S. Military Command operations or Department of Defense enterprise technical environments.
- Familiarity with data governance frameworks, metadata management tools, and real-time streaming technologies.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate across multi-disciplinary engineering teams to drive infrastructure improvements.
ClearanceRequirements
- Must hold a current/active secret security clearance.
PhysicalRequirements
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50%.
- Needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
- Frequently communicates with co-workers, management, and customers, which may involve delivering presentations. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations
