Job description

Our Technology team wakes up every day with one goal in mind - connecting Canadians to the people and things that matter most. Together, we are proud to support 30 million Canadians each month through managing a robust portfolio that champions leading-edge technology. We drive large-scale, complex, and high-visibility technology projects and programs that shape the future of technology in Canada and expand connectivity from coast to coast. If you are interested in being a part of this, consider applying for the following opportunity:

Who we're looking for:

We’re looking for a hands-on Data Solution Architect to design and deliver scalable, secure, and reusable data solutions.

This role sits within the Data & AI team and is focused on end-to-end data architecture — from requirements and design through to implementation. You’ll work closely with business partners, engineers, and platform teams to shape practical, production-ready solutions across data, integration, and analytics environments.

What you’ll do:

Design Data Solutions

  • Analyze requirements and assess new data solution needs
  • Design end-to-end solutions spanning data logic, technology, and ETL architecture
  • Contribute to High-Level Design (HLD) and Detailed Design Documents (DDD), ensuring consistency across design stages
  • Apply architectural standards, patterns, and best practices to ensure solutions are scalable, secure, and reusable

Support Delivery and Implementation

  • Provide architectural guidance to project teams during implementation
  • Work closely with engineering teams to ensure designs are delivered as intended
  • Contribute across the lifecycle, from initial design through to production readiness

Develop Data Architecture

  • Contribute to data modeling, design, and implementation across metadata management, operational data stores, and ETL environments
  • Design conceptual, logical, and physical data models with a focus on reusability and interoperability
  • Validate physical data models and support quality assurance processes to ensure performance and efficiency

Enable Data Consumption & Integration

  • Design data consumption patterns that support business needs and enable data reuse
  • Collaborate with security teams to align solutions with enterprise standards
  • Support data integration across systems and business domains

Collaborate Across Teams

  • Work with business partners, system architects, data engineers, database administrators, and analytics teams to define requirements and solution approaches
  • Partner with enterprise data architects to align with broader data strategy
  • Collaborate with governance, data quality, and stewardship teams to support data availability and effective use

Assess and Improve Solutions

  • Review existing data architectures to identify improvement opportunities
  • Contribute to strategies to enhance performance, scalability, and alignment with business needs
  • Perform impact assessment through lineage, object dependencies and usage
  • Support communication of recommendations to stakeholders

Explore Emerging Technologies

  • Stay current on data technologies, modeling approaches, and platform capabilities
  • Contribute to evaluating and adopting new tools and patterns where appropriate

What you bring

  • We recognize strong candidates come from different paths. You might be a great fit if you have:
  • University degree in computer science, information technology, data management or equivalent
  • Experience designing and delivering data and analytics solutions
  • Strong understanding of data structures, data platforms, and database management systems
  • Experience with ETL technologies and data integration approaches
  • Proficiency working across traditional, big data, and cloud platforms
  • Hands-on experience with SQL, at least one programming language, and modern data platforms
  • Experience working in cloud environments (e.g., AWS, Azure — including ADF, Databricks, Snowflake, Event Hubs, Storage, Key Vault, Fabric, or similar)
  • Experience migrating data from on-premises to cloud environments
  • A practical, hands-on mindset with the ability to contribute to both design and implementation

Nice to have:

  • Experience working with unstructured and semi-structured data
  • Experience with streaming platforms such as Kafka
  • Cloud architecture certifications (e.g. AWS or Azure)
  • Experience in the telecommunications industry
  • Strong attention to detail balanced with a pragmatic approach to delivery
  • Effective communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Experience supporting or mentoring peers on technical design and implementation
  • A problem-solving mindset grounded in real-world delivery
  • Interest and/or experience in AI/ML or AI-enabled data use cases
  • Exposure to broader solution architecture

How We Work

  • We design practical, production-ready data solutions
  • We expect architects to stay close to the build
  • We balance strong design with delivery realities
  • We collaborate across teams to move solutions forward
