Administrator: Director, Reporting & Analytics
Preferred Experience: 2+ years of experience in SQL programming and SQL Server databases; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Education Preferred: Baccalaureate Degree in computer science, computer engineering, information systems / technology, or related Degree with relevant experience
Overtime Status: Exempt, not eligible for overtime

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Database Reporting Analyst for the Montana State University Alumni Foundation (“Alumni Foundation”) is primarily responsible for fulfillment of targeted data and report requests from both external Montana State University (“University”) partners, and internal Alumni Foundation team members. The Database Reporting Analyst reports to the Director, Reporting & Analytics, Advancement Services Team.
Anticipated distribution of time and effort are outlined below:
40% Design/Maintain/Perform regular data extract, transform, and load operations (“ETL”) using SQL Server Integration Services (“SSIS”).
30% Develop ad hoc and self-serve reports in Power BI Report Server, aka SQL Server Reporting Services (“SSRS“).
20% Manage and fulfill data and information requests from University partners and internal Alumni Foundation team members.
10% Other duties including but not limited to: Organizational Software Helpdesk function. Business process development & SOPs Documentation. Assist in data hygiene and maintenance.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage and assist with data and information requests (i.e. list requests) to external University partners and manage all request-related communications.
- Manage the queue of data and report requests by collaborating with other members of the Advancement Services team.
- Implement existing procedures and develop new SQL-based queries and procedures to fulfill targeted data requests, reporting needs, and data ETLs.
- Utilize Visual Studio for various development tasks and integrating with SSRS projects.
- Develop, document, and disseminate targeted best practices and standard operating procedures (“SOP’s”) related to the fulfillment of targeted data and information requests from the Alumni Foundation database.
- Identify database-related improvement opportunities and collaborate with members of the Advancement Services team to develop and implement solutions.
- Affect and maintain a professional, proactive, positive, highly collaborative, and performance-centric work environment.
- Other duties, as assigned by the Director, Reporting & Analytics.

SPECIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- In-depth experience with SQL Server database query development.
- Understanding of and experience with the Microsoft SQL Server & BI stack, including SQL Server Management Studio, VS Data Tools, SSRS, and SSIS.
- General programming and database administration experience helpful.
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment while remaining helpful, pleasant, and courteous.
- Demonstrated knowledge of computer hardware, including installation, operation, security, maintenance, and networking requirements.
- Complete respect for confidentiality.
- Excellent interpersonal and business communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines for multiple projects and priorities.
- Experience developing and maintaining solutions using Microsoft Power Platform components (Power BI Desktop, Power Automate, and Power Apps) is a plus.
