Position Overview:
The DC Supervisor (DCS) is responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations within an assigned team and/or shift in DMA’s distribution center. Reporting directly to the DC Manager and/or Assistant DC Manager, the DCS ensures timely and accurate processing of customer orders, the effective execution of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and promotes a culture of safety, efficiency, and continuous improvement. This position plays a critical leadership role in supervising associates, managing workflow, coordinating with other operational leaders, and supporting team performance aligned with company Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). 2nd shift normally works 3:00pm-12:00am, Monday thru Friday.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Team Leadership & Performance Management:
- Lead and mentor warehouse staff across all functions, providing training and guidance to ensure compliance with safety protocols, company policies, and operational procedures.
- Support workforce scheduling based on operational volume and shift demands.
- Coach, train, and provide feedback to team members to ensure high performance and alignment with company standards.
- Monitor performance metrics and hold team accountable to established KPIs.
- Ensure documentation of performance-related issues and work closely with HR and DC Manager on coaching, counseling, and disciplinary actions.
2. Operational Execution & Workflow Coordination:
- Oversee and coordinate all inbound and outbound logistics processes, including receiving, order picking, packing, labeling, and shipping, ensuring compliance with customer-specific requirements and quality standards.
- Oversee inbound receiving, including container scheduling, documentation verification, product unloading, and stock placement.
- Coordinate outbound processing and ensure all SOPs and customer-specific requirements (e.g., labeling, packing) are followed.
- Identify and communicate process variances, product discrepancies, and operational delays to the DC Manager in a timely manner.
3. SOP & Compliance Adherence:
- Ensure all work is performed in compliance with established SOPs, safety protocols, and equipment usage standards.
- Conduct regular audits and retraining as needed to uphold SOP integrity and continuous process improvement.
- Maintain compliance with documentation requirements, including order logs, shipping paperwork, and exception reports.
4. Safety & Facility Standards:
- Conduct regular safety audits, ensure adherence to OSHA regulations, and lead safety training sessions with assigned team members to maintain a compliant and hazard-free workplace.
- Operate forklifts and order picker equipment as needed to assist the team.
- Ensure all team members are trained and certified before operating equipment such as forklifts, order pickers, and/or pallet jacks.
- Partner with HR to report and address safety violations, incidents, or near misses.
- Lead facility housekeeping efforts and assign team ownership of work zones to uphold cleanliness and organization.
5. Communication & Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Collaborate with Supply Chain, Inventory Control, and Customer Logistics teams to optimize inbound and outbound processes, resolve discrepancies, and enhance overall operational efficiency.
- Host regular team huddles and performance reviews to align the team with daily targets, safety reminders, and SOP updates.
- Support cross-training initiatives and team flexibility to adapt to changes in volume or staffing needs.
- Serve as the acting lead in the absence of other DC Supervisors as required.
6. Reporting & Administrative Responsibilities:
- Track and record team productivity, workflow output, and exceptions as required.
- Ensure timely submission of documentation related to inbound/outbound processing and internal communications.
- Assist in operational reporting and provide updates on labor efficiency, task completion, and shift coverage.
7. Additional Duties:
- Perform all other duties as assigned.

- Reports directly to the DC Manager and/or Assistant DC Manager.
- Directly supervises a team of employees assigned to their work area or shift.
Requirements
Key Requirements:
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of direct supervisory experience in a warehouse, distribution, logistics, or retail environment. Proven experience managing warehouse functions such as receiving, picking, packing, shipping, and inventory handling. Familiarity with LTL, TL, and small parcel shipping is preferred.
- Skills: Demonstrated ability to lead with strong organizational, verbal, and written communication skills in English, with proven success in managing multiple priorities within a fast-paced operational environment.
- Knowledge: Knowledge of warehouse operations, workflow optimization, and team leadership principles, including familiarity with standard operating procedures (SOPs), productivity metrics, and safety compliance requirements.
- Technology: Proficiency in using Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and other relevant software to track inventory, monitor performance metrics, and generate reports on inbound and outbound activities, ensuring data accuracy and timely reporting. Additionally, proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Outlook, Word) is required, along with the ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies as business needs evolve.
- Education: High school diploma or GED required. Additional training or coursework in supply chain, operations, or logistics preferred.
Physical Requirements:
The DC Supervisor (DCS) role is primarily warehouse-based and requires regular physical activity as part of daily operations. The physical demands listed below are representative of those required to successfully perform the essential functions of this position:
- Mobility: Ability to move throughout a large warehouse facility, including walking long distances on concrete flooring, climbing stairs, and transitioning between workstations and storage areas.
- Standing and Walking: Required to stand and walk for extended periods, typically 8 to 10 hours per shift, with the possibility of longer durations based on operational needs.
- Lifting and Carrying: Frequently required to lift, carry, or move boxes, products, and materials weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance.
- Posture and Motion: Frequent bending, reaching, stooping, and twisting during operational tasks; ability to operate warehouse equipment such as pallet jacks, forklifts, order pickers, ladders, or RF scanners efficiently.
- Vision and Hearing: Sufficient visual and auditory acuity to safely monitor warehouse operations, read labels and instructions, and communicate with team members in a moderately noisy environment.
- Work Environment: Work is performed in a busy distribution center with exposure to varying indoor temperatures, warehouse equipment, and ambient noise from machinery and transport vehicles.
Travel Requirements:
This position requires approximately 5% travel between DMA's distribution centers, attend training events, and participate in community outreach initiatives.
