Summary:
Join a student-centered, community-rooted education team serving rural and mountain-area schools committed to equity, access, and personalized learning. This role offers the chance to directly support students who are deaf or hard of hearing—many with additional disabilities—by helping them access communication, curriculum, and meaningful learning opportunities. The team is seeking a DHH Specialist who brings both instructional skill and deep compassion to support learners across multiple grade levels and school sites.
What You’ll Do:
- Provide direct instruction based on IEP goals for students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Adapt teaching methods and materials for students with additional needs, including autism, deaf-blindness, intellectual disabilities, or emotional disturbance
- Support the use of assistive listening devices, FM systems, visual communication tools, and alternative modalities as needed
- Collaborate closely with teachers, support staff, families, and specialists to align services
- Travel between school sites to deliver onsite services in self-contained or integrated settings
- Monitor, assess, and document student progress; participate in IEP meetings and team discussions
- Serve as a communication and instructional resource to educational teams and families
What You’ll Need:
- Valid California credential authorizing instruction for students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Experience working with students with hearing impairments through teaching, internships, or supervised fieldwork
- Strong collaboration, flexibility, and documentation skills
- Valid CA driver’s license and the ability to travel between sites during the school week
Job Type: Contract
Pay: $45.00 - $55.00 per hour
