Job description

The Team:

The Family Violence Counselling and Support Service (FVCSS) provides specialist counselling, advocacy, and support for adults, children, and young people who have experienced family violence. As part of the Safe at Home service system, FVCSS is committed to promoting safety, recovery, and wellbeing for victim-survivors through a compassionate, trauma-informed, and client-centred approach.

The Deputy Manager plays a key leadership role in supporting a skilled and dedicated multidisciplinary team. Working closely with the Statewide Manager, the Deputy Manager provides clinical leadership, professional guidance, and day-to-day coordination of statewide services, ensuring high-quality, responsive support for individuals and families affected by family violence.

The Role:

  • Provide expert clinical leadership, mentoring, and professional support to Team Leaders, clinicians, and administrative staff within FVCSS, fostering a positive, inclusive, and collaborative team culture while upholding organisational values and professional standards.
  • Support the Statewide Manager, Family Violence Counselling and Support Service, in the coordination, development, and delivery of statewide services, ensuring safe, effective, and trauma-informed support for victim-survivors in accordance with Agency policy and legislative requirements.
  • Build and maintain strong, trusted relationships with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders, government agencies, and community organisations to strengthen service delivery and improve outcomes for individuals, families, and communities affected by family violence.

You will need:

  • Demonstrated expertise in family violence practice, with substantial experience in the clinical and/or therapeutic support of individuals, children, and families experiencing family violence and complex care needs, with proven ability to work collaboratively with clients, families, carers, and partner services to deliver coordinated, compassionate, and effective support.
  • Demonstrated commitment to evidence-informed practice and achieving meaningful outcomes for children, young people, adults, and families, with well-developed understanding of the strategic, legal, ethical, and practice considerations relevant to the delivery of high-quality family violence counselling and support services.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide inclusive and supportive clinical and professional leadership, fostering a positive team culture and a commitment to continuous improvement, with experience in empowering and developing staff through coaching, supervision, teaching, mentoring, and reflective practice, while supporting the achievement of organisational goals and service excellence.

Details of appointment:

Permanent full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.

*Notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Position Features:

  • Occasional intra/interstate travel is required.

Salary:

$139,670 to $143,063 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement No. 2 of 2025.

Salary Packaging:

You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.

Allowances:

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

  • Professional Development Allowance of up to $1000 per annum.

Eligibility:

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.

  • Satisfactory completion of an approved allied health professional tertiary qualification/program of study and registered with the relevant Board or, in the case of unregulated professions, eligible for membership of the relevant professional association.
  • Significant experience in Family Violence Support Services including knowledge of relevant legislation and therapeutic modalities for trauma resolution.
  • Current Tasmanian Working with Children Registration

Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:

  • Postgraduate studies in relevant clinical area/s, public health, health service leadership, or project management/research
  • Experience/credentialled for providing professional supervision
  • Current Driver’s Licence
