Position Summary: The Digital & Social Media Manager at Nashville Ballet plays a vital role in shaping the organization’s digital presence and expanding its reach across social media and web platforms. This position creates and curates compelling content to support ticket sales, fundraising, school enrollment, and community engagement, while projecting the company’s artistic growth and vision. Working closely with cross-departmental teams, the manager oversees content calendars, maintains brand consistency, manages the organization’s digital asset library, and analyzes performance metrics to inform strategy. The ideal candidate is a strategic, data-informed storyteller who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
Location: On-site in Nashville, TN with flexibility for remote/hybrid work
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Social Media Strategy, Content Creation, and Campaigns
- Collaborate with leadership to shape social media strategies and create visual storytelling content that showcases Nashville Ballet’s diverse programming and organization initiatives.
- Lead day-to-day social media management across platforms (Facebook, Instagram, X, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube, and emerging channels), ensuring consistent voice, messaging, and brand identity for multiple accounts.
- Develop, write, edit, and publish original and engaging content, including copy, photos, videos, reels, stories, infographics, and other visuals to promote performances, events, community programs, and classes/school enrollment.
- Serve as the in-house photographer/videographer to capture company rehearsals, productions, school classes, community events and more as needed for use in marketing, educational, and fundraising efforts.
- Develop and manage influencer partnerships and campaign activations, including in-person and digital experiences, and equip internal and external stakeholders with social media resources to drive engagement.
- Maintain and update a social media content calendar that optimizes customer engagement metrics and integrates seasonal campaigns, ticket sales pushes, and brand priorities across platforms.
- Ensure unified brand voice across channels and adhere to visual style guidelines, logos, colors, fonts, and image specifications.
- Stay informed and research social media trends and emerging platforms, algorithms, and best practices for potential adoption.
- Increase the organization’s use of short-form social media video content for YouTube, as well as other platforms
Community Engagement, Audience Development, and Monitoring
- Foster audience engagement by monitoring and responding to comments, questions, and messages across social media channels in a timely, on-brand manner.
- Manage social listening, monitor audience sentiment, and use insights to inform content strategy.
- Represent the organization at performances, community events, and special programs, capturing content in real time and engaging directly with audiences.
- Develop and analyze clear metrics to evaluate the impact of social media efforts and report key insights regularly to senior management and provide actionable recommendations for optimization.
Collaboration, Administration, and Support
- Oversee digital asset management system including approval assets and proper archiving while ensuring copyright and credit compliance. Document policies, train staff, develop a practical manual for ongoing process management, and provide regular updates.
- Manage external photographers and videographers to ensure projects stay within assigned budget and coordinating internal resources like booking studio time, compiling assets, leading review process, and assisting with the release of final files.
- Assist with organization’s copywriting needs, developing clear, mission-aligned content for digital and printed materials that support marketing, fundraising, and educational initiatives.
- Participate in cross-departmental content planning and creative brainstorming sessions to ensure alignment of marketing priorities.
- Document and maintain social media policies, procedures, and best practices; provide training to staff as needed.
- Support other marketing and media team members as necessary, including ad hoc projects, community outreach, and event coverage.
Website Management
- Utilize SquareSpace to maintain NashvilleBallet.com.
- Work closely with the Director of Sales and Marketing to regularly audit website, identify areas of improvement, and optimize content and structure to improve user experience, SEO performance, increase organic traffic, and support broader marketing and audience engagement goals.
- Measure and monitor website traffic and engagement to ensure website efficiency and quality.
- Manage online reputation and grow positive reviews on social, Google, etc.; monitor and respond to comments, questions, and feedback across all platforms.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or a related field
- Minimum of two (2) years of demonstrated professional experience and strong working knowledge of social media channels and KPIs
- Proficiency with video and photo editing tools, preferably Adobe Creative Suite
- Experience working with DSLR cameras, capturing video content and photography
- Familiarity with web design and publishing
- Excellent copywriting, editing, and communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced and creative environment
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, project management software (Asana, Basecamp, etc.), asset management software (Canto, Photoshelter, etc.), Google Analytics, Meta Business
- Strong understanding of digital marketing, including SEO, content marketing, and data analytics
- Analytical and multitasking skills with the ability to meet established deadlines, working both independently with minimal supervision (self-starter) and as part of a team
- Knowledge of ballet/dance, passion for the performing arts, and/or experience in the entertainment industry is a plus
- Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a positive, solutions-oriented attitude
- Experience working with different kinds of people and communicating with a diverse audience.
