Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide essential support and care to high functioning individual who is a man.
The ideal candidate will assist this gentlemen in achieving their personal goals while promoting independence and enhancing his quality of life. This role requires a strong commitment to patient observation, effective communication, and the ability to follow care plans tailored to each individual.
Locations: Deep Creek Area of Chesapeake, Cedar RD
Responsibilities
- Provide assistance with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) including bathing, grooming, dressing, and meal preparation.
- Observe and document patient behavior and progress, reporting any significant changes to the appropriate personnel.
- Implement individualized care plans developed in collaboration with healthcare professionals.
- Assist clients with mobility needs, including heavy lifting when necessary.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for clients, ensuring hygiene standards are met.
- Offer companionship and emotional support, fostering a positive relationship with clients.
- Administer CPR and First Aid as needed in emergency situations.
- Collaborate with other healthcare providers to ensure comprehensive client care, including hospice care when applicable.
- MUST have experience with individuals with high behaviors
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a caregiving role or as a nurse is preferred but not required.
- Knowledge of patient observation techniques and the ability to recognize changes in client conditions.
- Familiarity with meal preparation and dietary needs is beneficial.
- Certification in CPR and First Aid is highly desirable.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting as required by client needs.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team environment.

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 41 per week
