Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director 2, Clinical Engineering to oversee clinical engineering operations. The ideal candidate will bring hands-on expertise with medical equipment, strong leadership skills, and a track record of driving operational excellence in a healthcare setting. This role will lead a team of supervisors and technical professionals to ensure the safe, efficient, and high-quality delivery of biomedical services.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and oversee the clinical engineering program across all service areas
- Lead, mentor, and evaluate a team of supervisors and technical staff
- Ensure timely maintenance, repair, and calibration of medical devices and equipment
- Implement process improvement initiatives to enhance service quality, efficiency, and regulatory compliance
- Collaborate with clinical teams and leadership to align biomedical services with patient care goals
- Monitor and enforce compliance with regulatory standards and internal safety protocols
- Oversee departmental budgets, contracts, and vendor relationships
- Support capital planning and equipment lifecycle management
- Manage purchasing, inventory control, and subcontractor activities
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement and professional development within the team
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in biomedical engineering, healthcare technology, or a related field
- Experience: Minimum 5 years of management experience in clinical/biomedical engineering within a healthcare system
- Experience working with executive leadership and aligning HTM strategies with organizational goals
- Skills: Strong knowledge of regulatory standards (CIHQ, DNV, Joint Commission/JCAHO)
- Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and conflict resolution skills
- Proven leadership in developing and managing high-performing technical teams
- Proficient in budget management, vendor negotiations, and contract oversight
- Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
- 5+ years of leadership experience in healthcare technology management
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in the maintenance and repair of clinical devices
- Familiarity with regulatory compliance requirements and quality standards in healthcare environments
- Ability to travel locally as needed
