Description: This position provides oversight of all administrative functions at the Chesapeake Bay Alcohol Safety Action Program. The ASAP program provides evaluation, education and probation support to DUI offenders and to the courts in Virginia Beach, Norfolk, Northampton and Accomack County This is not a state position. The successful candidate will be the central point of contact for the program. In addition to staff supervision, may provide intake and case management support in instances of high caseloads and interface with program participants in emergency or crisis situations. The employee must be able to represent the ASAP program, interact with policy board members, judges, elected officials, legal staff, other ASAP programs and the Commission on VASAP. This employee will be directly supervised and serve at the pleasure of the Chairman and members of the Chesapeake Bay ASAP Policy Board. Additional duties will include, but are not limited to, assisting in the development of new programs, monitoring state compliance requirements, developing and monitoring program budgets and contracts. Will hire, train and evaluate employees, make public presentations, plan meetings and perform other duties as assigned by the policy board.
Minimum Qualifications: A Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice, Public Administration, Counseling, Social Work or a related field with experience in monitoring and evaluating program compliance and demonstrated knowledge of probationary procedures; Plus three years of experience in the management and/or administration of a criminal justice program, supervising personnel and experience preparing and monitoring budgets. Must have strong oral and written communication skills.
