Adoption Network Cleveland (ANC) is seeking a dynamic, relationship-driven Director of Development & Communications to lead our fundraising and storytelling efforts. Since 1988, Adoption Network Cleveland has been a trusted voice and community hub for everyone touched by adoption, foster, or kinship care. From adoptees and birth parents to foster youth and donor-conceived individuals, our programs empower thousands of people each year. With a $1M annual budget, a dedicated team of 12 staff, 150+ volunteers, and 21 engaged board members, we may be small — but our vision and impact are mighty.
Your Role
As Director of Development & Communications, you’ll be the architect and driver of our fundraising and communications strategies. You’ll oversee a talented team (Development Coordinator + Communications Coordinator), manage a robust portfolio of donors, and shape the organization’s public voice. From major gifts and corporate partnerships to signature events and brand storytelling, you’ll play a pivotal role in ensuring ANC’s financial sustainability and visibility in the community.
What You’ll Do
Fundraising Leadership
- Design and execute ANC’s annual fundraising plan.
- Cultivate and steward major donors, foundations, and corporate partners.
- Oversee special events and creative engagement strategies.
- Partner with board members to elevate their fundraising capacity.
Communications & Branding
- Lead ANC’s brand strategy and messaging, ensuring consistent and compelling storytelling.
- Supervise digital and print communications, including website, newsletters, social media, and the Annual Report.
- Amplify ANC’s visibility through creative marketing campaigns and media engagement.
Leadership & Team Management
- Supervise and mentor the Development & Communications Team.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to the Executive Director and an active member of the Leadership Team.
- Drive collaboration across the organization, fostering a culture of creativity and accountability.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred).
- 3+ years in development (annual appeals required; major gifts preferred).
- Strong staff management and project leadership experience.
- Skilled with donor databases (DonorPerfect a plus), Microsoft Office, project management, and digital communications tools.
- Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills.
