Are you ready to lead the heartbeat of a leading branded hotel in the vibrant city of Pittsburgh? We’re searching for a strategic and hands-on Director of Engineering to oversee all engineering and maintenance operations at a full-service, branded property. This is a high-impact leadership role where you’ll drive operational excellence, safeguard the hotel’s physical assets, and ensure an exceptional guest experience from behind the scenes.
In this role, you’ll collaborate closely with the General Manager and executive leadership team to manage a broad range of responsibilities, including emergency preparedness, capital planning, preventive maintenance, energy efficiency, and regulatory compliance. You’ll also lead and develop a skilled team of engineers, creating a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Excellence
- Lead all engineering operations in alignment with brand standards and local codes
- Oversee preventive maintenance programs and long-term asset protection plans
- Ensure hotel readiness for emergencies and full compliance with safety and sanitation protocols
- Collaborate with leadership and outside partners on safety, risk, and insurance matters
Strategic & Financial Impact
- Develop and manage the department’s annual budget and capital improvement projects
- Optimize energy usage and explore cost-saving and sustainability opportunities
- Make data-informed decisions that contribute to both service excellence and bottom-line results
Guest Satisfaction
- Proactively address and resolve maintenance issues that impact the guest experience
- Monitor guest feedback and implement improvements to enhance satisfaction
- Serve as a visible leader who models responsiveness and professionalism
Team Leadership
- Recruit, coach, and mentor a high-performing engineering team
- Conduct training, performance evaluations, and recognition programs
- Promote a positive, results-driven culture rooted in teamwork and pride of ownership
Cross-Functional Partnership
- Conduct routine inspections to assess property conditions and identify improvements
- Support special projects, renovations, and hotel-wide initiatives
- Lead regular meetings and ensure open, clear communication across departments
Ideal Background:
- 5+ years of experience in facilities or engineering leadership, preferably in hospitality
- Proven track record in managing teams, budgets, and capital projects
- Deep understanding of safety regulations, building systems, and vendor negotiations
- Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills
- Physically able to lift up to 100 lbs and work in varied environmental conditions

Pay: $80,000.00 - $105,000.00 per year
