Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced, results-driven Director of Safety to lead and oversee all aspects of Polk Mechanical’s safety program across our operations in the DFW area. This senior leadership role is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining safety policies and procedures that ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements while fostering a world-class safety culture across the organization.
The Director of Safety will be a visible leader in the field, working closely with project teams, executives, and clients to reinforce our commitment to safety excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and manage company-wide safety programs, policies, and procedures in compliance with OSHA, state, and federal regulations.
- Drive continuous improvement in safety performance and establish Polk Mechanical as an industry leader in safety practices.
- Provide leadership, training, and mentorship to safety managers, coordinators, and project teams.
- Conduct regular audits, inspections, and jobsite visits to ensure compliance and proactively identify risk areas.
- Partner with operations leadership to integrate safety planning into all project phases.
- Oversee incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action implementation.
- Track and analyze safety performance metrics and present findings and recommendations to executive leadership.
- Lead initiatives to build and maintain a proactive, employee-driven safety culture.
- Serve as the company’s primary safety representative with clients, regulators, and industry associations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Construction Management, or related field (preferred).
- Minimum 10 years of progressive safety leadership experience in mechanical construction, industrial, or related industries.
- CSP, CHST, or equivalent safety certifications strongly preferred.
- In-depth knowledge of OSHA standards, safety regulations, and industry best practices.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization.
- Demonstrated success in developing and implementing effective safety programs in a large-scale construction environment.
