Description

DSHS Administrative Assistant 2

The Administrative Assistant 2 ensures departmental efficiency by managing critical administrative tasks to include filing forms, generating and distributing reports, updating databases, and managing court order documentation.

In this role you will act as the assistant to the Court Services department within the Civil Center of Excellence, providing direct and confidential administrative support. The role’s scope of influence affects staff in multiple disciplines, including Psychology, Psychiatry, and Social Work. You will report to the manager in charge of the Court Services department within the Civil Center of Excellence at Western State Hospital.

This is a full-time, Monday through Friday position with no option for remote work. Pierce County employees are eligible to receive an Orca Card for transportation needs. Opportunities performed on-site at this work location at least three days a week may be eligible for an additional 5% premium pay in addition to the advertised salary.

Some of what you’ll do:

  • Provide administrative support
  • Create petition templates
  • Access and distribute criminal history information
  • Prepare and distribute daily and weekly court hearing schedules and court filing documents
  • Update databases related to legal status of patients
  • Establish procedures, interpret and apply administrative policies
  • Assist in devising unit standards and procedures to ensure adherence to policies
  • Develop employee training programs and courses
  • Coordinate with other departmental staff members


What we’re looking for:


Professionals with a bachelor’s degree in business administration, public administration or closely allied field and two years of responsible office experience at the senior clerical level or higher.


Clerical office work experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis. Graduate study may substitute for experience on a year-for-year basis.
