Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to join our team. In this role, you will provide essential support and assistance to individuals with developmental disabilities, ensuring their well-being and enhancing their quality of life. Your responsibilities will include assisting with daily living activities, implementing care plans, and fostering a supportive environment that promotes independence and dignity.
Responsibilities
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation.
- Provide patient monitoring and observation to ensure safety and well-being.
- Support individuals in maintaining personal hygiene and cleanliness within their living spaces.
- Implement care plans tailored to each individual's needs, including medication administration as required.
- Engage clients in meaningful activities that promote social interaction and cognitive engagement.
- Maintain accurate documentation of care provided while adhering to HIPAA regulations.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, family members, and social workers to ensure comprehensive care.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to enhance the client's overall experience.
Requirements
- Experience working with people with developmental disabilities or in group home settings is preferred.
- Knowledge of first aid and CPR is essential; certifications are a plus.
- Ability to perform patient observation and monitor vital signs effectively.
- Experience in home health or assisted living environments is beneficial.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team setting.
- A compassionate approach to caregiving with a focus on enhancing client independence and dignity.
