Responsibilities
The Florida Center for Reading Research is seeking enthusiastic and reliable individuals to serve as Early Childhood Assessors and Interventionists for Project OPAL. In this role, you will play a key part in supporting the literacy development of pre-kindergarten children by administering standardized assessments and delivering a 12-week small group phonemic awareness intervention.
- Administer standardized assessments to pre-kindergarten students.
- Implement a structured, research-based 12-week phonemic awareness intervention.
- Maintain accurate records and adhere to research protocols.
- Coordinate with teachers and research staff to ensure effective implementation.
- Travel to assigned elementary school sites daily.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience working with children ages 4-6
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in a related field (e.g., Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Child Development, Psychology).
- Previous teaching or classroom experience.
- Experience working in a research based educational or child development setting.

Anticipated Salary Range
$14–$18 per hour, commensurate with education and experience.

Considerations
This is an OPS/temporary job.
Based on the duties, this position may require completion of a criminal history background check.
Hiring and training will start in June/July 2025, with field work beginning in August 2025 and continuing through May 2026. The project is actively seeking to fill positions in the Big Bend area (Leon, Liberty, Calhoun, Bay, Gadsden Counties).
This position will be for 15-20 hours/week. Candidates should be available Monday through Friday between 8:00 AM and 3:00 PM, aligned with local school hours.
This position requires a reliable vehicle and willingness to travel to schools within your designated region.
