Elder Law and Estate Planning Paralegal/Legal Assistant

We are a prominent Lake Success Law Firm seeking a Paralegal for its growing Elder Law and Estate Planning Practice. The successful candidate will have minimally 5 years of experience as a Medicaid and/or Estate Planning Paralegal.

A self-starter with a strong work ethic and organizational skills are essential for this position. Must have good oral communication and analytical skills. The ability to communicate and be personable with clients, adversaries, witnesses is paramount; must be true team player genuinely interested in working in a supportive, collaborative environment.
Responsibilities:
- Manage a Medicaid caseload.
- Directly communicate with clients, social workers, hospitals, and nursing homes to gather relevant information for case files.
- Organize and maintain case files and documents using document management systems.
- Prepare and submit community and institutional Medicaid applications to the Department of Social Services, including any supplementary documentation required.
- Prepare and submit Joinder Agreements for Pooled Trust Companies
- Track Medicaid applications and provide status updates to clients.
- Timely respond to inquiries from clients and the Department of Social Services.
- Create asset spreadsheets and track asset transfers.
- Prepare and organize client files for estate planning document executions.
- Follow up for signed estate planning documents.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
What you will need to have:
- 5-10 years of experience as a Medicaid and/or Estate Planning Paralegal
- Great organization and multitasking skills relating to document review, legal administrative procedures, phone etiquette.
- Demonstrated ability to be flexible and prioritize work tasks in an effective manner.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Familiarity and proficiency with document management systems
- Collaborative with a can-do attitude
- Comfortable working with all levels of business professionals, including senior management and all colleagues at other departments in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in MS Office and Outlook
Competitive salary commensurate with experience
Salary Range: $60k-$75k
