Job Title: Elementary School Assistant PrincipalLocation: Elementary SchoolReports To: Building PrincipalSubordinates: NonePosition Type: Full-Time, Exempt, School Year Academic CalendarSchool Year: 2025-2026Salary: $85,000-105,000POSITION SUMMARY: The Elementary School Assistant Principal will support the academic and social-emotional growth of students and the professional development of faculty. The Assistant Principal will play a critical role in fostering a positive school culture, ensuring compliance with state and charter regulations, and collaborating with the Principal to lead school improvement efforts.This job description is intended to convey information essential to understanding the scope of this position and is not an exhaustive list of skills, efforts, duties, responsibilities, or working conditions associated with the position. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Instructional LeadershipSupport teachers in implementing high-quality, standards-aligned instruction.Analyze student performance data to inform instructional strategies.Lead professional development initiatives, including SEI (Sheltered English Immersion) strategies.Conduct teacher observations and provide constructive feedback.Student Support & School CultureDevelop and implement school-wide behavioral expectations and restorative discipline practices.Foster a positive and inclusive school environment.Partner with families to support student success.Collaborate with student support teams to address the needs of diverse learners, including students with IEPs and English Learners (ELs).Operational & Compliance ResponsibilitiesEnsure adherence to Massachusetts DESE (Department of Elementary and Secondary Education) regulations.Assist with school accreditation and charter renewal processes.Oversee daily school operations, including safety and emergency protocols.Support the recruitment and hiring of highly qualified faculty and staff.QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPECTATIONS: Masters degree in Education, Educational Leadership, or a related field.Massachusetts DESE licensure as an Assistant Principal or Principal (PreK-6) required.Sheltered English Immersion (SEI) Endorsement required.Minimum of three years of successful teaching experience in an elementary school setting.Strong background in curriculum development, instructional leadership, and data-driven decision-making.Experience working in diverse, urban school environments is preferred.Exceptional communication and organizational skills.Commitment to educational equity and student-centered learning.Experience in a charter school setting.Training in restorative justice or positive behavior interventions.Bilingual proficiency in Spanish, Portuguese, or another language spoken by the school community is a plus.ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Background check and fingerprinting as required by Massachusetts state regulations.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Must be able to lift, move, or assist students when necessary.Completion of any required professional development or certifications as mandated by the District.WORK ENVIRONMENT: This position operates in a school and office setting.Some travel between schools may be required.Occasional evening and weekend events for parent meetings, college nights, academic and/or athletic events, or professional development may be necessary.PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Ability to stand for extended periods, lift (up to 50 lbs.), and perform repetitive motions.Frequent bending, crouching, stooping, and stretching.Standing or walking for the entirety of an 8-hour shift.Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment requiring multitasking and attention to detail.Important Note: Applicants who are hired for this position and are found to have provided falsified or inaccurate information during the application process are subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.Compensation and Benefits: Full-Time, Exempt position that is compensated based on experience and is not on a salary scale.
