Emergency Management Coordinator

What You'll Do:
- Develop, implement, and manage emergency management plans for all types of disasters
- Lead emergency preparedness training for staff and external partners
- Coordinate multi-agency disaster response efforts
- Maintain real-time situational awareness and provide accurate updates during emergencies
- Conduct risk assessments and vulnerability analyses
- Oversee full-scale, functional, and tabletop emergency exercises
- Serve as liaison to county, state, and federal emergency management partners
- Manage emergency preparedness contracts and reporting requirements
- Lead public outreach campaigns for disaster education
- Maintain readiness of emergency supplies and volunteer resources
- Supervise Deputy Coordinators and lead strategic planning for the department
- Represent GCHD in EOC activations and provide direct logistical support during crises
- Develop after-action reviews and continuous improvement plans
What We're Looking For:
- Bachelor's degree in Emergency Management or related field, OR 5+ years of relevant experience
- At least 10 years of experience using the National Incident Management System in real-world emergencies
- Minimum 5 years of experience in an Emergency Operations Center (EOC)
- Minimum 10 years of experience managing volunteers during real-world emergencies and disasters alongside emergency response and public health teams
- Experience managing volunteers in emergencies
- Certified emergency preparedness instructor with extensive experience
- Strong public outreach and communication skills
- Deep knowledge of local, state, and federal emergency protocols
- Familiarity with Joint Commission emergency preparedness standards, including HVA, all-hazards planning, resource coordination, patient care continuity, and post-event recovery
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and emergency planning software
- 24/7 availability for emergency response (unless prior arrangement made)
- Valid Texas Driver's License and reliable transportation
- Must pass criminal background check, DMV/MVR check, and drug/alcohol screening
- Compliance with ICS training and GCHD immunization policies
