Engineering Supervisor (Fire, Life, Safety) - JLL

This role focuses on ensuring the highest standards of fire, life, and safety protection across JLL-managed facilities. You'll serve as the subject matter expert responsible for maintaining comprehensive fire safety systems, ensuring regulatory compliance, and protecting building occupants through proactive safety management. The position involves overseeing all aspects of fire protection systems, from routine maintenance to emergency preparedness, while staying current with evolving fire codes and safety standards to ensure occupant safety and regulatory compliance.
What your day-to-day will look like
- Conduct regular inspections of fire alarms, detectors, and all fire safety equipment to ensure optimal functionality
- Perform fire extinguisher maintenance, placement checks, and coordinate refilling/replacement schedules
- Execute fire suppression system testing including sprinklers, gas systems, and other specialized suppression equipment
- Plan, coordinate, and conduct emergency evacuation drills to ensure building occupants are prepared for emergency situations
- Monitor and ensure compliance with local fire codes and standards through regular audits and system updates
- Develop and deliver staff training programs for fire safety procedures and emergency response protocols
- Maintain detailed documentation of all inspections, tests, and maintenance activities for regulatory compliance
- Coordinate with local fire departments and regulatory agencies during inspections and code compliance reviews
- Respond to fire safety emergencies and system malfunctions to minimize risk and restore protection
- Review and update emergency action plans and evacuation procedures as needed
Required Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of fire protection systems including alarms, sprinklers, and suppression systems
- Understanding of local fire codes, NFPA standards, and life safety regulations
- Experience with fire safety equipment maintenance and testing procedures
- Ability to conduct thorough inspections and identify potential safety hazards
- Strong communication skills for training staff and interfacing with regulatory agencies
- Experience in emergency planning and evacuation procedures
- Basic understanding of building systems and mechanical equipment
- Commitment to maintaining high safety standards and regulatory compliance
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification in fire protection systems (NICET, CFPS, or similar)
- Experience in commercial building fire safety management
- Background in facilities management or engineering
- Training certifications for adult education or safety instruction
- Experience working with local fire departments and regulatory agencies
- Knowledge of building automation systems and integration with fire safety systems
- Project management experience for fire safety system upgrades and installations
- Advanced knowledge of NFPA codes and standards
Location: Onsite
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 7a-330pm; Weekends as needed
Compensation: $33/hr.
