About this position:
The Engineering Technician is responsible for Vehicle Data Recorder (VDR) activities in customer and other test vehicles. This is an entry-level position that has the potential to grow into a Project Engineer/Data Analyst role.
Responsibilities and duties
- Assist in Supplier Management and assist engineers with product tests
- Track and maintain VDR functionality
- Ensure VDR’s are functioning and recording data
- Ensure that the VDR’s remain up to date with current software and firmware levels
- Maintain all components of VDR system
- Installations, inspections/triage, and removals as necessary
- Maintain hardware and accessory inventory
- Respond to all VDR diagnostic codes that are generated from the customer fleet
- Review customer data to verify correctness, completeness, and data fidelity
- Work with engineers and other personnel to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, and provide technical information from in-field evaluations
- Research, design, evaluate, install, operate, and maintain mechanical products, equipment, systems and processes to meet requirements, applying knowledge of engineering principles
- Provide feedback to engineers on customer problems and requests
Qualifications:
- Associate’s Degree in Engineering Technology (Mechanical or Electrical), Bachelor’s Degree preferred
- Valid Driver’s License required
- Microsoft Office skills– Intermediate
- Strong written and oral communication skills. This role interacts with both external customers and internal management.
- Ability to see the “big picture” and understand how individual tasks interconnect and impact other parts of the testing process.
- Local residents only with the ability to work on site
- Must be legally able to work in the U.S. without requirement of any type of visa sponsorship/transfer now or in the future
