At RK&K, we are seeking an Environmental Scientist II to join our Natural Resources Team in Austin. As an RK&K environmental scientist you will be actively involved in a wide range of natural resource surveys and investigations (vegetation, habitat assessments, protected species, waters/wetland/stream assessments, water quality permitting).
Essential Function
- Conduct field investigations and surveys
- Prepare documents and natural resource reports
- Conduct/assist in protected species surveys, habitat assessments, and other natural resource inventories
- Interact with clients and regulatory agencies
- Collaborate with other environmental professionals
Required Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, biology, or equivalent·
- Five (5+) years relevant experience
- Broad knowledge of and experience with Texas native species and natural resources, particularly State/Federal protected species
- Team-oriented
- Adept at juggling multiple tasks
- Excellent at written and verbal communication
- Motivated to find creative solutions to environmental problems
- Excited to work outdoors in all seasons
- Experience with GIS (ArcPRO)
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Master’s Degree in environmental science, biology or equivalent
- Candidates with experience complying with National Environmental Policy Act requirements pertaining to transportation projects
- Candidates with experience complying with the Endangered Species Act to obtain clearance for transportation projects
- Natural Resources experience in Texas
- TxDOT precertification and GIS experience
- CPR/First Aid training
