The Role
This position reports to the Manager, Environmental Sustainability within the Lumen Global Environment Health & Safety (EHS) function. The Environmental Sustainability Manager will support efforts to plan, develop, manage and implement the environmental sustainability function in North America. This may include involvement in programs, initiatives, projects, and resources related to environmental sustainability including but not limited to GHG emissions reporting/disclosure (CDP), overall environmental sustainability disclosures (ESG Report, stakeholder ESG requests [e.g., disclosure via standardized rater/rankers like Ecovadis, customer-specific requests, storytelling opportunities, etc], science-based targets for GHG emissions reduction, environmental sustainability awareness/training/communications, and other related programs.

This is a remote opportunity open to candidates located anywhere in the U.S.
The Main Responsibilities
Position objectives include supporting and/or managing environmental sustainability projects/programs/processes, driving continuous improvement to environmental sustainability function, partnering with peers and other stakeholders to successfully implement and manage the function, and achieving established targets aligned with the company’s organizational goals. Specific responsibilites may include:
- Collecting and/or analyzing and/or providing global environmental sustainability data/information for sustainability reporting/disclosure efforts - including the company’s annual CDP submission, disclosure requests from customers, investors, and other external partners, sustainability rater/ranker providers, and the company's annual ESG Report.
- Supporting strategies to meet and report the company’s publicly stated environmental sustainability goals including science-based targets for carbon emissions reduction and other related targets.
- Participating in the company’s Sustainability Committee on behalf of the “E” function, working in partnership with cross-functional internal stakeholders support Lumen’s ESG efforts.
- Providing regular updates to the Manager, Environmental Sustainability, Director Global EH&S, other EHS Team Managers/Team members, and/or other leaders as needed on environmental sustainability programs, progress, and opportunities.
- Monitoring emerging environmental sustainability regulations and rule-making and developing compliance strategies that minimize risk to the company.
- Partnering with stakeholders throughout the organization to communicate environmental targets and objectives and collaborating to implement or modify processes, projects, and initiatives to improve management system elements that enhance regulatory compliance and sustainability.
What We Look For in a Candidate
- Bachelor's degree in environmental science, engineering, or other scientific or related field or equivalent education and relevant experience
- 5+ years of professional experience in environmental sustainability management
- Capacity to apply scientific, social, environmental and economic principles to the management of environmental sustainability issues
- Ability to prioritize and develop and implement effective strategies to overcome obstacles build a consensus and achieve established objectives
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Highly effective teamwork, planning, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Compensation
This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience and other relevant factors.
Location Based Pay Ranges:
$82,969 - $110,625 in these states: AL, AR, AZ, FL, GA, IA, ID, IN, KS, KY, LA, ME, MO, MS, MT, ND, NE, NM, OH, OK, PA, SC, SD, TN, UT, VT, WI, WV, and WY.
$87,117 - $116,156 in these states: CO, HI, MI, MN, NC, NH, NV, OR, and RI.
$91,266 - $121,688 in these states: AK, CA, CT, DC, DE, IL, MA, MD, NJ, NY, TX, VA, and WA.
