This position is a member of our Air Permits Division.
HERE’S WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
- Review routine air permit applications (i.e., projects), ensuring high quality work and completing the required quantity of projects within established time frames. Conduct a comprehensive technical review for projects to include defining all sources of contaminants, applying appropriate federal and state requirements, reviewing emission calculations, drafting permit documents, and completing technical review summaries. Prepare public notice authorizations and completes associated tasks.
- Provide quality customer service to applicants, agency staff, other state/federal agencies, elected officials, stakeholders, and the general public concerning the applicability of federal and state requirements for the permitting process and the technical completeness of projects.
- Attend and assist in technical training activities concerning major and minor permit reviews. Participate in division, section, and team meetings.
Qualifications
REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in engineering, physical science, environmental science, or a related field.

CURRENT TCEQ EMPLOYEES
This position is also available as a lateral transfer opportunity (LTO) to TCEQ employees within the Engineering Specialist I state classification. The selected candidate must meet the minimum qualifications of the corresponding job in the Environmental Permit Specialist series.
Work Schedule
Standard business hours are M-F, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Individual and work group schedule determined by the TCEQ Air Permits Division.
