Equipment Operator
Panhandle Power Solutions is seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Equipment Operator to support the installation, maintenance, and construction of electrical infrastructure. This role involves operating heavy equipment and machinery to support underground utilities, site work, conduit installation, and related tasks essential to the delivery of reliable power solutions. This position will also include physical work on site, as we don’t require full-time operating each week.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safely operate equipment such as mini excavators, backhoes, skid steers, trenchers, and forklifts for underground electrical and utility projects.
- Load, transport, and place materials such as conduit, wire, poles, and backfill.
- Maintain awareness of surroundings to ensure the safety of crews, equipment, and existing underground utilities.
- Perform daily equipment inspections and report issues for maintenance or repair.
- Assist with general labor tasks when not operating equipment, including hand trenching, conduit installation, and site cleanup.
- Interpret and follow site drawings, utility locates, and foreman instructions.
- Adhere to all safety standards, OSHA requirements, and company policies.
- Assist with electrical installation or prep.
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience operating heavy equipment in a construction or utility environment.
- The candidate must be capable of passing a DoD security background check and receiving a contractor base pass as required to work on federal property.
- Valid driver’s license required; CDL preferred.
- OSHA 10 certification required.
- Strong understanding of underground utility safety and job site best practices.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and site conditions.
- Experience with ProCore project management software preferred.
- Travel required in most instances - per diem when applicable.
- Relocation not required but must be able to travel to sites as required.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Prolonged periods of standing, walking, and operating equipment.
- Comfortable working in trenches, around heavy equipment, and near energized systems (with proper PPE and safety protocols).
Position Type: Hourly ($30.00-$35.00/HR)
Location: Space Coast/Cape Canaveral, FL (will be opportunities to travel to other sites)
