Job Summary
The Estate Groundskeeper is responsible for a variety of high-end landscaping and garden maintenance tasks, including mowing, edging, weed eating, trimming, planting, pool and fountain maintenance, irrigation repair, fertilization and other detailed horticultural duties. This role involves working both as part of a team on group projects and independently, with personal training provided for individual assignments. Candidates must be self-motivated, reliable, and able to contribute positively in a team-oriented environment.
Responsibilities
- Mowing with both riding and self-propelled mowers
- Weed eating with line trimmers
- Use edging and clean line equipment
- Operation of both hand and backpack blowers
- Utilize backpack sprayers and fertilizer equipment
- Operation of hand tool for digging while planting and irrigation/drainage repairs
- Use of pool cleaning equipment
- Proper operation of pressure washing units
- Proper ladder and climbing techniques
- Use of trimming equipment and saws
- Use of utility carts and full-sized vehicles
- Planting of large to small plants
- Will report to a professional garden supervisor for training and advice
- Any other functions needed to maintain the needs of the estate (ex: Christmas light install and take down, party set up and clean up, package receipt and unloading)
Requirements
- Working knowledge of small equipment and hand tools
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on high-end landscape presentation
- Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred
- Effective communication skills and ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Positive attitude with a team-oriented, “we can do this” mindset
- Self-motivated with a strong work ethic
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Ability to manage stress in a professional and healthy manner
- Capable of completing tasks accurately and on time
- Willingness and ability to learn new technologies and equipment as needed
- Knowledge of appropriate responses in emergency situations
- Physically able to meet the demands of the role, including outdoor work in varying weather conditions
- Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts, outdoor environments, and potentially hazardous materials
- May require use of personal protective equipment such as respirators, gloves, earplugs, eye protection, boots and hats
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to stand; walk; bend; and use hands to finger, handle or feel.
- Must be able to reach with hands and arms; talk and hear.
- Must be able to occasionally lift some heavy materials (plants, soil, 50-pound bags)
- Must be able to work in a busy, noisy environment.
- Must be able to handle outdoor working conditions which may be cold, hot, humid, wet/slippery.
- Must be able to frequently lift, bend, climb, stoop and pull.
- Must be able to continuously stand, sit and walk.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

- Utilize irrigation systems effectively to ensure optimal plant growth.
- Assist in the planting and transplanting of flowers, shrubs, and trees.
- Maintain greenhouse environments by monitoring temperature, humidity, and light levels.
- Operate hand tools and power tools safely for various gardening tasks.
- Implement landscape maintenance practices to enhance the appearance of gardens and lawns.
- Monitor plant health and identify any pest or disease issues; take appropriate action as needed.
- Collaborate with team members on larger landscaping projects or farming initiatives.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in gardening or horticulture is preferred.
- Familiarity with irrigation systems and greenhouse operations is a plus.
- Knowledge of landscape maintenance techniques including lawn care and farming practices.
- Ability to operate hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to maintaining high-quality work standards.
- Physical stamina to perform manual labor in various weather conditions.

Pay: From $14.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
