About Rainbow Bible School
Rainbow Bible School is a Christian, nonprofit, licensed childcare facility located in Abilene, Texas. We have been serving Abilene families and children since 1979. Our mission is to provide a happy and safe place where all children can learn, play, and grow in the Lord. Our goal is to enhance the lives of every child that attends our center. Early childhood should be a time of fun, exploration, and discovery all within a safe environment. Our staff strives to nurture and encourage each child to be the creative and unique individual God has designed them to be.
Position Overview
We are looking to hire a qualified Executive Director to manage our day-to-day operations and establish and sustain a positive Christian learning environment for pre-K children. The Executive Director will oversee the coordination of education programs that comply with state and federal regulations, ensure the facilities are maintained, hire and manage staff, and manage the center’s financial affairs. The Executive Director should have a love for children and strive to create a supportive and encouraging environment for both children and teachers.
Responsibilities and Duties
1. Ensure a safe, happy, and stimulating environment for children.
2. Ensure the center maintains minimum standards requirements including with Texas Rising Star.
3. Oversee the coordination of the educational curriculum with the assistance of staff.
4. Communicate and meet with parents regarding their children and the center’s policies, procedures, schedules, and related updates. This includes but is not limited to daily messages, monthly newsletters, and monthly calendars.
5. Ensure the website is up-to-date and provides adequate and positive information to the community.
6. Ensure the center’s facilities, supplies, and equipment are safe for children and staff and comply with laws and regulations. This includes but is not limited to coordination with University Church of Christ, managing and maintaining proper insurance, and safety drills.
7. Update the Board of Trustees on significant issues and manage the quarterly board meeting.
8. Complete ongoing training and courses to remain up to date with daycare standards and procedures.
9. Manage and oversee the center’s human resources:
a. Interview, hire, and train new staff members, ensuring they meet all policies and legal
requirements.
b. Maintain schedules for full-time and part-time staff.
c. Schedule ongoing training for existing staff and promote their professional development.
d. Provide support to staff including in the classroom.
e. Perform formal write-ups and reprimands for staff as needed.
10. Manage and oversee the center’s finances:
a. Manage the center’s accounts receivable and collections through Brightwheel.
b. Manage payroll including timekeeping, raises, bonuses, reimbursements, and deductions.
c. Evaluate and purchase supplies, groceries, equipment, and third-party services including repairs
and maintenance.
d. Process vendor invoice payments via check, ACH, or credit card.
e. Manage credit card spending and reconciliation.
f. Manage bank activity and reconciliation.
g. Monitor and manage the center’s tuition rates in comparison with other centers within the community and enact tuition increases and discounts as needed.
h. Actively research and apply for grant funding opportunities and expense reimbursement programs.
i. Manage the lease agreement including negotiations with University Church of Christ.
j. Create, monitor, and manage the center’s budget.
k. Coordinate with the outsourced accounting firm which performs payroll processing, payroll tax reporting, after-the-fact bookkeeping, financial statement preparation, and Form 990 processing.
l. Coordinate with the Board Treasurer for monthly financial statement review, budget creation, and quarterly Board meetings.
Salary and Benefit Package
Starting salary begins at $52,000 per year and may increase depending upon experience. Discretionary bonuses are given annually. Free tuition is available for the Executive Director’s children that are enrolled at Rainbow Bible School.
