The Exercise Physiologist works with patients challenged with cardiovascular, pulmonary, and metabolic diseases and disorders. The Exercise Physiologist develops and administers programs designed to enhance aerobic endurance, cardiovascular function, muscular strength and endurance, balance, and range of motion. The Exercise Physiologist educates their patients about exercise program components, clinical and lifestyle self-care for control of chronic disease and health conditions, and clinical risk reduction.
Essential Functions:
- Conducts detailed patient exercise assessments including patient’s knowledge of exercise training principles, physical limitations, preferences, and history of pertinent exercise related injuries
- Performs cardiovascular, strength, balance, and flexibility testing
- Designs exercise programs tailored to physician prescription, patient medical condition, exercise history, preference, and resources available
- Understands and applies specific exercise treatments for treatment or reversal of heart diseases
- Instructs patients in self-monitoring for safe and effective exercise including knowledge and self-monitoring of training heart rate
- Demonstrates proper use of exercise equipment, body mechanics, safety features, and operational guidelines to patients
- Provides specific written exercise prescriptions using the MD prescription as a foundation
- Documents patient encounter including goals into Epic EMR
- Provides follow up and revision of exercise prescription based upon patient’s progress, physician prescription, and stated goals
- Contributes to the overall patient experience and satisfaction
- Models WeCare principles
- Participates in performance improvement activities
- Performs work in accordance with established schedules, policies, and procedures
- Adheres to HR, safety, HIPAA and compliance policies, and attendance requirements
- Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements:
- Master’s degree in Exercise Physiology or Exercise Science
- Experience and/or specialty training exercise physiology at a master’s degree level
- Experience in clinical application of exercise physiology targeted to management of heart disease in cardiac rehabilitation
- Current BLS or CPR
- Experience working with an EMR (i.e., Epic)
- Ability to accurately type a minimum of 40 WPM
- Strong verbal and written communications, and active listening skills
- Solid patient/guest relations skills with the ability to communicate in a professional, courteous, and efficient manner
- Ability to perform basic math
- Excellent attention to detail
- Ability to effectively organize and prioritize task in order to complete assignments within the time allotted to maintain standard workflow
- Ability to work effectively as a team member who is flexible, cooperative, and willing to assist others

Schedule: Full Time, Days, 8:00am-5:00pm
