We are looking for an organized and efficient Expo to join our team and play a crucial role in ensuring a smooth and successful dining experience for our guests.
Job Summary: The Expo is the vital link between the kitchen and the front-of-house, responsible for orchestrating the timely and accurate delivery of food orders. This role requires meticulous organization, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. In addition to expediting, the Expo will contribute to food preparation and ensure the presentation of dishes meets our high standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Food Expediting & Organization:
- Receive plated food from the cooks and efficiently organize it for seamless handover to food runners.
- Communicate effectively with cooks and food runners to ensure accurate order delivery and address any discrepancies.
- Maintain a clear and organized expo station, ensuring all necessary tools and ingredients are readily available.
Plate Presentation & Garnishing:
- Ensure all plates are ready for service by dressing items such as pancakes, waffles, and French toast according to restaurant standards.
- Verify that specific items have the appropriate garnishes and accompaniments (e.g., powdered sugar, salsa, syrups).
- Maintain consistency in plate presentation and quality.
Food Preparation Assistance:
- Prepare a portion of food items, including creating various cream cheese flavorings.
- Assist with other light food preparation tasks as needed.
Toasting & Bread Preparation:
- Manage the toasting of various bread products (e.g., toast, bagels) to ensure they are ready for service.
To-Go Order Preparation:
- Assemble and prepare to-go delivery orders, ensuring accuracy and proper packaging.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a restaurant kitchen or expo role preferred.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with kitchen and front-of-house staff.
- Basic understanding of food safety and sanitation practices.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 pounds.
