Elizabethton Youth Academy in Elizabethton, Tennessee, is a 16-bed residential treatment center for girls ages 12 to 17. Our program focuses on mental health treatment, education, and creative therapies including art, music, and recreation. Position Summary – Facility Maintenance Worker Job in Elizabethton, TN
We are hiring a Facility Maintenance Worker to support the daily operations of Elizabethton Youth Academy. This role is ideal for individuals with a strong background in building and grounds maintenance who want to make a meaningful impact in a residential treatment environment. You will be responsible for maintaining a safe, clean, and efficient facility to ensure a supportive setting for youth and staff.

Facility Maintenance Worker Responsibilities
- Manage building services including maintenance, groundskeeping, parking areas, and facility safety
- Conduct regular building inspections and take proactive steps to ensure a safe, efficient, and presentable environment
- Oversee safety and security measures, including fire, burglary, and facility closures
- Monitor and maintain close circuit security systems and access card operations
- Support program managers by identifying and coordinating maintenance projects and repairs
- Track and maintain facility fire and health inspections and ensure timely resolution of deficiencies
- Direct contractor activities related to facility maintenance, equipment, and grounds
Other Duties Include
- Maintain a high standard of role model behavior for youth
- Participate in training and development activities as required
- Report any acts, incidents, or conditions reflecting inappropriate behavior
- Report any use of physical force and all unusual incidents per guidelines
- Perform other duties as assigned or needed
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to pass background check and drug screen
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to foster a positive, team-oriented work environment
Preferred Experience
- 3+ years’ experience in facility maintenance or related roles
- Prior project management experience strongly preferred
Other Requirements
- Physical Demands: Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, occasionally up to 75 pounds. Required vision abilities include close, distance, color, and peripheral vision. Ability to drive for extended periods.
- Other: Must maintain an appropriate and valid state driver’s license. Must meet company auto insurance requirements. Must meet state criminal background check and pre-employment screening requirements.
