We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Plant Manager to oversee daily operations at our recycling facility. This role is responsible for ensuring efficient production, compliance with environmental regulations, maintaining safety standards, and leading a high-performance team to achieve operational goals. The Plant Manager will play a key role in driving operational excellence, maximizing throughput, and optimizing resources in alignment with company objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Operations Management
- Oversee daily plant operations, including sorting, processing, and shipment of recyclable materials.
- Monitor production metrics to ensure efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
- Develop and implement operational strategies to meet or exceed production goals.
Safety & Compliance
- Enforce all safety protocols, OSHA standards, and environmental regulations.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits to maintain compliance with local, state, and federal laws.
- Promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
Team Leadership
- Manage, train, and develop plant staff, including supervisors, machine operators, and maintenance personnel.
- Foster teamwork, accountability, and high employee morale.
- Conduct performance reviews and set clear performance expectations.
Maintenance & Equipment
- Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance schedules to minimize downtime.
- Coordinate with maintenance teams to ensure equipment reliability and efficiency.
- Recommend upgrades or replacements of equipment as needed.
Budget & Reporting
- Manage plant budget, including labor, maintenance, and material costs.
- Prepare and present operational reports to senior management.
- Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality or safety.
Qualifications
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, Environmental Science, or related field preferred (or equivalent work experience).
- 5+ years of management experience in manufacturing, recycling, waste management, or related industry.
- Strong knowledge of recycling processes, material recovery equipment, and plant operations.
Skills & Competencies:
- Proven leadership and team management skills.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or similar process improvement methodologies (preferred).
- Proficient in MS Office Suite and plant management software.
Work Environment
- Industrial facility environment with exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures.
- Requires standing, walking, and occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
