Job Description
As a Medical and Education Interpreter with Metaphrasis Language & Cultural Solutions, you will play an essential role in facilitating communication in healthcare and educational settings. Whether assisting with patient care or supporting teachers and families in educational environments, your expertise will ensure accurate, professional, and culturally sensitive interpreting services.
Responsibilities
- Provide precise, professional interpretation services in medical and educational settings, ensuring effective communication between all parties.
- Prepare by researching relevant terminology and context for specific assignments.
- Uphold confidentiality and ethical standards, including compliance with HIPAA and professional interpreting codes.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, educators, and families to improve outcomes and understanding.
- Flexibly manage assignments across the Chicagoland area, including occasional travel to suburban locations.
Qualifications
- High proficiency in English and a target language, with strong interpreting skills.
- Completion of formal training in interpreting (minimum 40 hours preferred) OR equivalent experience.
- Familiarity with medical and educational terminology and interpreting techniques.
- Ability to demonstrate professionalism, cultural sensitivity, and a commitment to excellence in every assignment.
- Experience with remote platforms like Zoom or Google Meet is a plus.
Requirements
- Proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
- Documentation of vaccinations or immunizations for healthcare client compliance.
- Availability during, before, or after business hours for flexible assignments.
- A willingness to continue professional development in interpreting.
