Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Spanish Interpreter to facilitate communication between Spanish-speaking individuals and English-speaking clients. The ideal candidate will possess a strong command of both languages, enabling them to interpret and translate conversations accurately and effectively.
Duties :
- Provide accurate and effective interpretation (or translation) of procedures and other interactions for Spanish speaking patients, their families, and staff, via phone, in person, or in writing.
- Assists billing department with financial counseling.
- Maintain professional boundaries as interpreter; maintain patient, family and staff rights to confidentiality privacy.
- Translate quickly and accurately patient-specific pre-procedure and post-procedure instructions, physician and nursing instructions, and care instructions.
- Answer incoming calls promptly, efficiently, and with compassion. Inviting and connecting with incoming callers to provide extraordinary patient care.
- Update patient information and create new patient charts following established policies and procedures. Perform data entry with a high level of accuracy.
- Document phone conversations accurately and thoroughly based on procedural guidelines.
- Schedule incoming referrals, new patients, and established patients and notify referring offices with updates as needed.
- Maintain daily EHR task list and document all notes accurately and appropriately.
- Be able to accept and adapt to changes in procedures, programs and/or role functions based on the needs of the company.
- Monitors call queue dashboard consistently to ensure all calls are being answered and addressed in a timely manner. Department expectation to keep call hold time under 5 minutes.
- Answer incoming calls promptly, efficiently, and with compassion. Inviting and connecting with incoming callers to provide extraordinary patient care. Minimum expectation of 8-12 inbound/outbound calls per hour.
- Monitor and answer referring MD queue and operator call queue. Forward, triage, and address all calls appropriately.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Experience:
- Proven experience as an interpreter or translator, preferably in a medical setting.
- Strong linguistic skills in both Spanish and English; proficiency in additional languages is a plus.
- Familiarity with American Sign Language (ASL) is advantageous but not required.
- Medical Interpretation Certificate – REQUIRED
