Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Fiber Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting fiber optic systems. This role requires a strong understanding of computer networking and field service operations, along with hands-on experience in fiber splicing and the use of various hand tools. The Fiber Technician will work both independently and as part of a team to ensure high-quality service delivery to our clients.
Duties
- Install and maintain fiber optic cabling and related equipment.
- Perform fiber splicing and termination using appropriate techniques.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues with fiber optic networks, including testing with an ohmmeter and other diagnostic tools.
- Collaborate with team members to complete installation projects efficiently.
- Utilize low voltage systems knowledge to ensure proper installation practices.
- Configure and troubleshoot Cisco routers as needed for network connectivity.
- Provide field service support, responding to client requests in a timely manner.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Service Technician or similar role in the telecommunications industry.
- Strong knowledge of computer networking principles, including Ethernet and telephone systems.
- Proficiency in fiber splicing techniques and familiarity with hand tools used in installation.
- Ability to work independently while also being a collaborative team player.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Valid driver's license may be required for travel to job sites.
- Certification or training related to low voltage installations is a plus.
