Field Service Technician – Lawrence Companies
Location: Roanoke, VA
Job Type: Full-Time
Shift: Varies / On-Call Rotation (24/7 availability every other week required)

That’s why we’re looking for a highly skilled and reliable Field Service Technician who can work independently in the field to diagnose, repair, and maintain heavy-duty vehicles and equipment. Major Duties & Responsibilities:
- Perform repairs and scheduled preventative maintenance on commercial trucks, trailers, and equipment at customer locations or roadside.
- Respond promptly to road service calls, accurately diagnosing and fixing mechanical, electrical, or hydraulic issues outside of the dealership.
- Operate a Class 8 tow truck when needed to recover or assist disabled vehicles.
- Work independently in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
- Prepare accurate work orders for each repair or service call.
- Collaborate with the parts department to ensure timely parts procurement and efficient repair completion.
- Promote cooperation, communication, and teamwork across departments and with customers.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and fully stocked service truck at all times.
- Ensure all work is completed according to safety and industry standards.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisor or management.
- Maintain 24/7 availability every other week as part of an on-call rotation schedule.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years of experience in diesel or trailer repair (fleet or dealership setting preferred)
- Strong mechanical, diagnostic, and troubleshooting skills.
- Valid CDL license and acceptable driving record
- Experience operating a Class 8 tow truck.
- Ability to work well independently and under pressure.
- Familiarity with mobile diagnostic tools and software
- Clear communication and customer service skills
- Ability to lift, bend, squat, and work in varying weather conditions.
