Overview
A prominent law firm with a global presence is seeking a Special Finance Counsel to join its Los Angeles office. This unique role is designed for experienced finance attorneys who are looking to continue practicing at a high level while maintaining a structured, consistent work schedule — typically aligning with standard business hours (e.g., 9 AM to 5 PM).
Position Overview:
The role will focus on leveraged finance transactions, particularly within the middle market space. The successful candidate will play a critical role in supporting deal execution, including drafting and reviewing credit agreements, amendments, and related ancillary documents. In addition to transactional work, this position will also involve participation in knowledge management initiatives to help strengthen internal resources and practice efficiencies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide day-to-day legal support on finance transactions
- Draft and negotiate loan documents, including credit agreements and ancillary documents
- Review and prepare amendments and waivers
- Contribute to internal knowledge-sharing and resource development
- Collaborate closely with deal teams, clients, and colleagues across offices
Ideal Qualifications:
- J.D. from a top-tier law school with a strong academic record
- Minimum of 4 years of dedicated experience as a finance associate, ideally from a top-tier or AmLaw firm
- Deep understanding of middle market leveraged finance transactions
- Excellent drafting and negotiation skills
- Strong organizational abilities and proven track record of meeting deadlines
- Capable of working independently while being a proactive contributor to team efforts
- Clear, confident communicator with strong interpersonal skills

Pay: $215,000.00 - $435,000.00 per year
