Purpose:
This role serves as a critical bridge between our Bookkeeper and Controller, providing comprehensive financial analysis, reconciliation support, and strategic insights to drive business decisions. The Financial Analyst will work closely with the CFO and financial team to ensure accurate financial reporting, efficient accounts receivable and payable processes, and robust financial controls for our defense contracting operations.
Tasks
- Prepare detailed financial analysis reports including variance analysis, trend analysis, and forecasting models to support management decision-making.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, business activity reports, and regulatory compliance reports.
- Perform complex account reconciliations including bank accounts, general ledger accounts, and intercompany transactions to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Support budget development, monitoring, and variance analysis processes across all business units and projects.
- Analyze accounts receivable aging, coordinate collection efforts, and assess customer credit risk to optimize cash flow.
- Monitor accounts payable processes, vendor relationships, and payment scheduling to maintain optimal working capital.
- Lead month-end and year-end closing procedures in coordination with Controller and CFO.
- Maintain current knowledge of GAAP, government contracting regulations, and internal policies and procedures.
- Conduct financial analysis of past, present, and projected operations to identify development opportunities and improvement areas.
- Support external audit processes and regulatory compliance requirements specific to defense contracting.
- Develop and maintain financial models, forecasting tools, and analytical reports for management use.
- Provide guidance and training to bookkeeping staff and junior financial personnel.
- Coordinate with project managers and operations teams on cost analysis, profitability assessment, and contract billing.
- Review and analyze journal entries, ensuring proper authorization and compliance with accounting standards.
- Monitor cash flow, working capital, and financial performance metrics to support strategic planning.
- Assist with special projects, process improvements, and system implementations as assigned by CFO.
- Prepare presentations and reports for senior management and external stakeholders as needed.
